We feel that your work-piece is more important at this stage and wanted to create a jig that gave the use more of a simple, easy to use system. You can concentrate on placement of your work piece in the jig and slide it over the blade. Because we use both sides of the fence, with our system, you do not have to concentrate on keeping the jig next to the fence. Many of them even look similar, but our jig uses both sides of the fence of the table saw to slide. There are many types of spline jigs out there and they all do the same thing. The spline is very decorative, but it also makes that miter joint much stronger. Let the glue dry completely and cut the excess spline off and sand to perfection. Once your slot is cut, you can slide in a piece of wood that is the same width with some glue. The fence is set for the location of the spline and our jig will slide your corner along the blade creating a slot for your spline to slide into. Our jig was built around our table saw, using the fence system as the guide for the spline jig. In our case, we are making a picture frame project that was very unique and we used the splines in the miter joints for extra strength, but also for looks.
